A Night at The Nunnery – Kicking Off the Case Study Project ??

This weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of returning to The Nunnery—a location that has held a special place in my heart since my very first visit. Despite its deteriorating state, with peeling paint, broken windows, and crumbling walls, there’s something truly captivating about this place. It carries an atmosphere like no other, one that lingers long after you leave. And what a night we had! ??️

This is going to be a long one, so buckle in—and if you make it to the end, I appreciate you sticking with me! ?

• A Shadow in the Corridor •

Even before our Haunted Happenings guests arrived, the night had already begun for me. While the rest of the team walked through the woods to collect our guests from the car park, I took the opportunity to explore the eerie corridors, capturing some photos and videos. There’s something about The Nunnery when it’s silent—when the only sounds are your own footsteps echoing off the stone walls ?
As I stood in one of the cloisters, I happened to glance towards a doorway at the far end of the corridor. Suddenly, I jumped. “Did you see that?” I asked the only other team member who had stayed behind with me. It was only a brief moment, but I believe I saw a dark shadow move across the doorway. Shadow figures aren’t something I’ve personally experienced much, but I always envy those who do. Half with excitement, half with anticipation, I grabbed my camera and started snapping photos, calling out for the figure to show itself again ? I didn’t see anything else in real-time, but looking back at the photos, there are some interesting contrasts. I’ll be posting them later, and I’d love to hear what you think! ?
Just as we turned to head back towards the guests, we stopped near some of the old wooden pews—and heard a distinct creaking sound, like the wood shifting under the weight of someone sitting down. Except… we were both standing ?

• Cellars, Spirits, and a Strong Start •

Once the guests arrived, we made our way to one of my favorite areas of The Nunnery—the underground cellars. A maze of dark, twisting corridors and hidden passageways, this part of the building always sets the tone for the night ahead ?
Gathering at the far end of the cellars, we began calling out, and the responses came quickly. Motion sensor balls flashed, the EDI meter pulsed with bursts of energy, and strange sounds echoed in the distance. A fantastic start to the investigation!

• The Vigils •

As the night went on, I spent time filming small vigils for the blog while the rest of the team and guests explored different areas. From what I heard afterward, it sounds like every group had incredible experiences:
- In the cellars, guests using the Estes Method received eerily relevant responses.
- Upstairs on the first floor, glass divination gave strong responses.
- The chapel became a hotspot for table tipping.
- The top-floor bedrooms proved particularly interesting for ouija board sessions, where guests received personal messages and connected with spirits who seemingly still reside at The Nunnery.

One of my own vigils took place in what was once the convent’s dining hall. Alongside two other team members, we set up various pieces of equipment and began calling out. I explained the purpose of the case study project, asking if any spirits would share their history with us. The Alice Box provided us with several names (which I’ve noted down—let’s see if they reappear in future investigations!). Throughout the vigil, we also had motion sensor balls flashing, EDI spikes, and sudden cold spots that made us shiver.
But perhaps the most unsettling part of the night for me was the persistent feeling of being followed. It was as if unseen eyes were watching, trailing me from room to room ??

All in all, The Nunnery did not disappoint. The activity was incredible, and it was the perfect location to kick off our Paranormal Case Study Project. I can’t wait to start delving deeper into its history, cross-referencing experiences, and piecing together the bigger picture ??

A massive thank you to our amazing guests, who threw themselves into the investigation, and to my Haunted Happenings team, who are always so supportive of my blog and research ❤️

The Nunnery is a truly special place, and if you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend it!
