Paranormal Activity 2 Press Night
HAUNTED HAPPENINGS EVOKE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY UNDER THE LONDON BRIDGE
Haunted Happenings and The London Tombs worked together last week to bring about the most spectacular paranormal event. Following the preview of Paranormal Activity 2, Haunted Happenings took Paramount Pictures and their guests into the dark unknown.
Deep in the bowels of the London Tombs all the guests were able to take part in some amazing paranormal experiments. Working in their Teams the guests had an opportunity to carry out table tipping, glass moving, Ouija Board and planchette work as well as holding vigils in séances in the depth of darkness.

The Haunted Happenings Team demonstrated their unique abilities in all things paranormal and did not fail to deliver what can only be described as the most amazing night. This could not have been achieved without the enthusiasm of some wonderful guests. We had it all that night, the table tipped, the glass moved and the Ouija Board began spelling out names in abundance. Guests were being touched and lights were flashing in dark corners. This was a truly amazing experience and one that I really hope we will be able to repeat with such a wonderful organisation as Paramount Pictures.
A huge thank you to the Paramount Pictures, The London Bridge Experience and last but by no means least some wonderful guests.

Ghost hunting in the London Tombs doesn't get better than with the fantastic Haunted Happenings team!

What would be the best way to round off the evening after watching a preview screening of the terrifying Paranormal Activity 2 (Tod Williams, 2010) do you think? A cup of tea and some nice cheery television? Or perhaps six hours of ghost hunting in the super spooky London Tombs? Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your state of mind) for me, it was the latter.
An all expenses paid fright night in London Bridge
When I was invited by my friend Kelly to go to a preview screening at Paramount Pictures of Paranormal Activity 2 I was pretty darn excited. When she told me that we would be staying the night in a hotel, free of charge, my excitement got worse. And when she revealed to me that we would be taken to the London Tombs afterwards for serious ghost hunting I was beside myself. So here's how the night unfolded...

We hopped off the train at London Bridge station eager to get to our Premier Inn, and so took out the map and started walking. As we passed the exterior of the infamous Tombs we decided to stop and have a look at what we had let ourselves in for. Billboards of zombies and chainsaw-wielding mad men had us slightly worried - not to mention that it is the "No. 1 scare attraction in the UK". At this point I happened to look to my right to see a man in Victorian style attire with blood dripping from his eyes just staring at us. It turned out that he was a promoter for the Tombs - so far so good on the scare front though!
Later into the evening and we both staggered out of the auditorium, shaking violently from the 91 minutes of pure fear that we had sat through, to be told that there were minibuses waiting to take us to the London Tombs for our ghost hunting. If we had complained about being tired earlier, Paranormal Activity 2 had definitely woken us up and wasn't going to let us sleep again for a good while. The only logical step was to continue on to the eerie and claustrophobic Tombs.
Meet the Haunted Happenings team, and the ghosts of course...
Prior to the night, we were told we needed to bring torches. Now, this would worry most people, and didn't really ease mine and Kelly's minds about the proceedings. Clutching my £2.99 torch we walked through the Tombs doors to await our fate, only to be greeted by some of the friendliest and totally non-spooky people from Haunted Happenings.
From this point on the night just kept getting better and better, and somehow I managed to stop being afraid of it all. We had a brief tour of the site, with anecdotes of the creepy goings-on there, followed by learning how to use dowsing rods, crystals, Ouija boards and EMF meters, and how to do table tipping and seances. Due to my odd infatuation with all things paranormal, I was starting to get seriously over-excited and desperately wanting to get in there and meet some spirits. My prayers were answered pretty quickly. Now let's get some spirit actionFrom the entire night, so much happened that it is difficult to pinpoint the most amazing event. However, there are a few that I really think are worth noting. The table tipping, to begin with, was one of the strangest experiences of my life. It was like the cheap little fold up table had a life of its own, and even when it wasn't really moving both me and Kelly could feel it vibrating, as though a pulse of energy was shooting through it. |
As for Kelly, she seemed to be the favourite for one of the spirits, and she complained on two occasions that something kept touching her hair and her head. Later on, she and I plucked up the courage to attempt a lone vigil somewhere in the Tombs. The team kindly put us close to the door so we could escape if we needed to - and needless to say, after five minutes we burst through the exit screaming and collapsed on the floor.
The ghost hunting was a fantastic experience, and is thoroughly enjoyable, no matter where your opinions stand. Skeptic, believer, or just don't care, the brilliant Haunted Happenings team aim to make the night the best it can be for you. To participate in something like that is a very personal experience and I would urge everyone to at least try it once. As for me, I could have carried on ghost hunting forever...
I am currently a second year student at the University of Sussex in the UK, studying Film Studies. I am passionate about films, so if you notice a trend in the articles that I write then this is why! I love, love, love to write as well - and when an idea or topic catches my interest I can write about it forever. My articles for Suite101 aren't all necessarily going to be about the most recent of films, I intend to write about whatever I feel is interesting about the film industry. In the future I hope to become a fully fledged film journalist and with Suite101's help, this dream could become an amazing reality. I hope you enjoy reading my articles!
