The Golden Fleece is reputed to be the most haunted building in York. Sightings of a ghostly little girl who appears and disappears whilst standing in the kitchen have been seen many times. There have been a number of accounts where people have felt a tightening around their throat and having their hair pulled by invisible hands. Scrreams have been heard and people have felt terrified for no reason.
The Golden Fleece is a very haunted and ghostly venue. It is famous for its paranormal activity and its ghostly hauntings. In addition to what has already been described there have been other disturbing accounts of doors banging, footsteps being heard on the stairs. Cold spots have been felt in different areas on different occasions. There have been extreme temperature changes and candles that relight themselves. In addtion to this beds have moved on their own and strange lights have been seen.
When Most Haunted visited the Golden Fleece in April 2009 with David Wells, they took along Radio One DJ Scott Mills. Unexplained haunted happenings were being witnessed before the investigation had even started. Reports of pockets being tugged and a door handle moving on its own without anyone being near it. David Wells however did sense the presence of a young pick-pocket who could have been responsible for the tugging on the pockets. Yvette also heard voices in St. Catherine’s Room which was also picked up by the sound crew.
My sister Jo and I would like to thank you for the Ghost Hunt on Sat night, we both enjoyed the experience very much, and would love to do more now that it's whetted our appetites. A well organised evening, and a big thank you to Hazel, Matthew, Elaine, David and Martyn
