Join Haunted Happenings for a night of suspense and intrigue at the very haunted Cowdray Castle. This was once a 16th Century House located in Sussex. It has been bombarded with sinister happenings over the centuries involving curses, tragedies, mass slaughter, and visitations by Henry VIII and the boy King Edward VI.
The curse was pronounced on all males and their heirs by the Sub-Prioress after all nuns were evicted from the Eastbourne Priory through the dissolution of the monasteries. The curse was of fire and water and this came to fruition in 1793 when a spark from a coal basket set fire to the Castle. The access to the water tanks was mysteriously barred and the building smouldered. This coupled with the fact that at the same time The Viscount drowned in an upturned boat meant that the curse was working. This was further confirmed when the next heir died 4 years later before fathering a child. This meant that the Chain had expired and the curse had actually done its job.
There are some terrifying ghosts at Cowdray Castle and non more fearful than the ghost of Sir Antony Brown who was hung, drawn and quartered for his crimes of mass murder and slaughter of all the inhabitants during the Civil War. He is said to detest women and many visitors have felt his presence here. There are also regular sightings of a lady who has been seen wandering around the ruins
There is a crypt at the Castle where you will be able to carry out a vigil in the hope of getting some very intense activity.
This is a fantastic location for those of you who wish to witness paranormal activity. You will be able to carry out vigils, séances and experiments in the most active areas and if you are brave enough why not carry out your own mini vigil in one of the most haunted areas?

What a fabulous venue Cowdray Castle is and what a fabulous event. A big thank you to all the team on the night, the Cowdray staff were also wonderful.
We had plenty of activity come through all night on the glass and writing planchettes, we made contact with a soldier who died in 1502, from being pushed off the roof, we also had the spirit of a little girl, several other male spirits and a woman.
This venue did not let us down and is a fantastic place to ghost hunt at night and I would imagine an equally fabulous place to visit during the day.
