This is a Halloween night that you will never forget. Falstaffs has been said to be the most haunted location in the UK. We have been lucky enough to secure this location for a very spooky night of Halloween ghost hunting. Join the Haunted Happenings Team as we guide you through this terrifying experience in the heart of Stratford.
On Stratford’s sky line since the middle-ages, the Shrieve’s property (now the Falstaff Experience) has borne witness to plague, fire, war, witchcraft and, some say, murder.
William Shakespeare is documented to have walked up the ancient cobblestones and based his famous character Falstaff on one of the residents. Civil War troops were billeted here in the 17th century and the local ‘jack the ripper’ character in the 18th century is said to have committed his foul deeds within the building.
With so much chilling history and standing on some five lay lines, it therefore unsurprising that it was recorded as having the second highest number of paranormal occurrences in the Great British Ghost Hunt. Horrible Histories Author Terry Deary stated it is “...the most haunted in England” and journalist Fiona Broom came away so terrified she described it as “the most unique and haunted building in the world”.
Strange occurrences are numerous and reported on a daily basis. Hauntings include an archer from the time of Henry VIII; a serial killer from the 18th century; a little girl who was a pickpocket at the time of the tavern; a Catholic gentleman from the time of the reformation and a justice of the peace who used his power to run an extortion ring with threats and violence. There are also sightings of the parliamentary soldiers; Victorian ladies; 16th century prostitutes; the victims of the ripper; the tavern keeper; monks; plague victims; witches; children and animals - the list goes on. During certain times of year a dark hooded figure with red glowing eyes, who is said to be a very ancient spirit, stands back and watches…
All though we have not witnessed all of these ghosts and spirits yet, we have had some terrifying experiences here on our past investigations. This is a really good location if you really are brave enough to withstand the intensity.
