Oak House is an outstanding location. Not only is it very haunted but it has an air about it which is difficult to fathom. The house dates back to the 16th Century and is one of the finest examples of timber -framed buildings in the Midlands. It’s name appears to have been derived from the presence of a large oak tree which used to stand in front of it until the last century.
The house has been inhabited for over 400 years and has many names associated with its history. The most recent is Rueben Farley who purchased the property in 1837. Alderman Reuben Farley bought the Oak House intending to make it his home, but instead donated it to the Town as a Museum. The house was restored and formally re-opened on 25th July 1898.
As you can imagine the Oak House has seen a lot of history and in turn there are a lot of suspects for the haunting of this location. What is absolutely definite though is that many, many things have been seen and heard which do not fit within the boundaries of possibility. In fact one of the Museum’s employees recently heard a conversation upstairs between a man and a woman. He went to investigate and actually heard the words “Be quiet, there is someone coming”. There was nobody else in the building with him as it was locked and late at night. When you put this with all the other sightings and disturbing noises that have been seen it is enough to give you goose bumps.
The kitchen is reputed to be one of the most active areas and I wonder if anybody would be brave enough in your group to carry out a lone vigil there? The Oak House has a very distinct air to it with regards to these unwelcome visitors and we are very intrigued to who or what we will find there.
Your event will include the following:
- A short history tour of the location
- A Medium Tour where we should identify the most active areas of the building
- A workshop demonstrating the use of all equipment and use of this throughout the night
- Vigils and Seances in the most active areas
- Experiments including Glass moving, Table Tipping, Ouija Board and Planchette, mirror scrying etc
- Lone vigils if brave enough
- Working in small groups throughout the night.
- Refreshments throughout the night including teas, coffees and snacks.
We all had an absolutly fantastic evening. It was so much fun and not as scary as i thought. Everyone went away really happy. The hotel was lovely, but myself and 5 others stayed up all night talking (and drinking!!). We had lots of activity in the castle and a few had family members come through to them which was nice. The staff at the castle were ace and made it really enjoyable. The setting is fantastic
Our husbands are very jelouse and want us to book another evening with them included!!
Thanks so much for all your hard work in organising this event for us, will defo recomend you to friends.
Thanks again.
