Constructed in 1756, Fort Amherst in Kent, was built to defend against French Invasion and is the best example of a Georgian Fortress. It has a labyrinth of tunnels beneath the cliffs that were designed to move the ammunition from one area of the fort to another. This ensured protection against any attack from the French and defended the strongest route to London. It was built by Tin Miners and engineers and was constantly being developed between the ages of 1756 and 1805.
Some of these tunnels are over 750m in length and 20m deep. There are many rooms and dark passages leading from these tunnels which in itself is a very daunting journey.
The reason that we have chosen this location as a ghost hunting venue is simply down to the overwhelming paranormal phenomena captured here. So much has been seen and heard at Amherst Fort that defies natural explanation and we believe that a ghost hunt here will really help in our quest to experience genuine paranormal activity.
Dark and sinister shadows have been seen on numerous occasions here by many, many people even in the daytime. Voices have been heard bellowing in people’s ears and making them scream in shock. The sounds of children crying and the wailing of women has been a regular occurrence. There are thought to be many spirits residing down in these sinister tunnels who are not afraid of making their presence known. The response requests are amazing here as is the poltergeist activity which gets more intense in the bowels of this very haunted location.
You will be able to carry out some amazing experiments here. Working in small groups you will have an opportunity to take part in vigils, séances, table tipping and to spend some time working alone (if you are brave enough) to carry out your own vigil. You will be working with the team who will guide you through the night, working towards getting the very best paranormal experience possible.

Well having been with Haunted Happenings a few times before I knew we were in for something good this evening, and I wasn't disappointed. First location which I can only describe as a crossroads in the tunnels was a very active area. Stones thrown, glass work with very clear answers, movement, shadows of people stood watching us from tunnels which nobody was down as they were dead ends.
From there moving up stairs to a big room where after nothing from glass work, we formed a circle. I stayed out of the circle with a EMF, after some pushing and arm lifting I moved into the center of the circle, I had some strange feelings here and after being asked to say the first name that came into my head I got "John" this never turned into anything but a few more members of the group were also getting "J" coming to them, I think in the end we figured out who this was but I won't say so people can see if they get the same stuff if they visit.
I would highly recommend this venue and I will myself be returning.
