PUBLIC NOTICE

IT IS VITAL THAT YOU READ, UNDERSTAND AND ABIDE BY THIS NOTICE

By purchasing this ticket and attending this World’s Longest Public Ghost Event (“the Event”) you confirm that you acknowledge and agree to abide by the terms of this Notice.   Tutbury Castle (“the Castle”) has a status as a scheduled monument and as a result of this and the nature of the Event, Tutbury Castle Limited (“the Company”) cannot provide ordinary health and safety items, including (but without limitation) handrails, warning notices, lighting and modern staircases at the Castle during your attendance.  

FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE LADIES, GENTS AND DISABLED TOILETS ARE AVAILABLE:

INSIDE
Toilets are located within the Castle building.

OUTSIDE:
By the main car park.

REFRESHMENTS ARE AVAILABLE:

Refreshments are available for purchase in the Tea Rooms

DISCLAIMER NOTICE

THE HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE HAS CONFIRMED THAT THE CASTLE CANNOT, AND IS NOT REQUIRED TO, COMPLY WITH MODERN SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AND IN CONFIRMING THIS ORDER YOU ACCEPT THAT YOU ARE FULLY AWARE OF THIS.   STAFF ON DUTY WILL HELP IN AN WAY THEY CAN TO ENSURE BEST POSSIBLE SAFETY.  YOU MUST TAKE EXTRA CARE WHILST ATTENDING THE EVENT AND ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING LIST OF “DO’S” AND “DON’TS” ON THE CASTLE GROUNDS:

DO:

  • Dress appropriately.   Wearing flat shoes is advisable and bring a torch.
  • Keep to the trail that will be clearly signposted for the Event.   Follow your Event
    guide at all times;
  • Keep to well lit areas;
  • Be aware that some areas of the Castle can be wet underfoot.   Exercise appropriate caution, particularly on staircases;
  • Abide by any instructions given to you by the Event guide or any stewards in the Castle grounds;
  • Keep to a steady walking pace;
  • Ensure young children are kept close by the adult(s) supervising them at all times; 
  • Expectant Mothers should take extra care in and around the Castle grounds. 
  • Disabled persons (Wheelchair users) or any person with impaired vision/hearing problems or learning difficulties should be supervised at all times;
  • Listen carefully t o the Event guide’s briefing before the Event starts.
  • Keep your ticket with you at all times.

DON’T

  • Arrive having consumed alcohol;
  • Bring the dog or any other pets;
  • Smoke inside the Castle buildings;
  • Under any circumstances, leave the Event trail;
  • Run on Castle grounds;
  • Climb or clamber over any walls or other objects on the Castle grounds;
  • Attempt to carry heavy or bulky baggage or belongings round the Castle.   Leave any such items at home;
  • Bring pushchairs to the Event;
  • Ignore the instruction of any steward of the Event guide;

Anyone found to be in breach of these guidelines on the Castle Grounds during the Event will be considered to be placing themselves at an acceptable level of risk given the lack of health and safety provision at the Castle, and accordingly, the Company reserves the right to eject any person who fails to abide by these guidelines from the Castle grounds, without refund. 

ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY

ACCIDENTS:

SHOULD AN ACCIDENT HAPPEN PLEASE REPORT TO A TRAINED FIRST AID WORKER OR ST AMBULANCE WORKER

ALL ACCIDENTS MUST BE LOGGED IN THE ACCIDENT BOOK

EMERGENCY:

AS THERE IS ONLY ONE ROUTE IN AND OUT OF THE CASTLE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY STEWARDS AND GUIDES MUST ENSURE THAT THE PATHWAYS REMAIN CLEAR.

THE EMERGENCY MEETING POINT IS LOCATED AT THE TEA ROOM DOOR.   LOOK FOR THE GREEN SIGN WITH A WHITE CROSS.

CAMPING

Tents will be erected at the top car park and toilets will be left open and lit at the main ticket office.   There will be stewards available to assist at the main hall building all night.

  • No fire pits may be dug.
  • Please have respect for the sleeping neighbours.
  • Use a torch for moving about.
  • Move about with caution.
  • Respect our badgers please.
  • Rubbish must be deposited in black bags (please bring your own) and put into the bins provided. 
  • Breakfast will be served in the Castle tea rooms from 8:00am.
  • Hot drinks will be served all night.

PLEASE NOTE there are no portable toilets on site.
